2020 – Quinquagesima – Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me
Blind Bartimaeus possessed no worldly wealth, honors, or ambition to speak of. In other words, nothing could encumber him from calling out to Jesus as he passed by to receive that which he most needed: his sight! Bartimaeus stands as our example to imitate this Lent as we depend upon nothing but the love of our Lord Jesus to sustain us this Lent and, indeed, throughout the Christian life.
