Saint Paul's Anglican Church

FAQs

Question:

Yes. Saint Paul’s is a living branch of Christ’s one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We share the Catholic faith of the undivided Church, expressed in Holy Scripture, the creeds, the sacraments, and within the historic Anglican tradition.

Question:

No. We are not in communion with the Bishop of Rome. We are part of the Anglican Province of America, within the Anglican Catholic tradition, maintaining the Catholic faith and order as received in the first millennium.

Question:

No. We understand Anglicanism as the English expression of the Catholic faith, preserving the faith and worship of the ancient Church in continuity with the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Question:

Our worship is liturgical, reverent, and deeply rooted in the classical Book of Common Prayer and the American Missal. You can expect vestments, incense on feast days, processions, Scripture readings, preaching, and Holy Communion at Sunday Mass.

Question:

No. All are welcome to attend our services, pray with us, and explore the Christian faith. If you are not Anglican or are new to liturgical worship, our clergy and ushers will gladly help you follow the service and answer any questions.

Question:

All baptized and confirmed Christians (or those who are ready and desirous to be confirmed) who are prepared, in love and charity with their neighbors, and who share the Catholic faith in the Sacrament are invited to receive Holy Communion. If you are unsure whether you should receive, you are welcome to come forward for a blessing or please speak to one of the clergy before mass.

Question:

Children are warmly welcomed at Saint Paul’s and are encouraged to remain in the Mass and pray with their families. We understand that children make noise; this is a sign of a living parish, not a distraction from worship.

Question:

Begin by worshipping with us regularly and getting to know the parish. When you are ready, speak with Fr. Oldfield about the next new members’ or confirmation class and about being received or confirmed by the Bishop.

Question:

Yes. Baptism, Holy Matrimony, and the Burial of the Dead are integral parts of our sacramental life. If you are interested in baptism, marriage preparation, or funeral planning, please contact the parish office or speak with Fr. Oldfield.

Question:

Most people wear typical Sunday clothes; anything modest and respectful is appropriate. If you would like a better sense of what people wear, you can look at the photos on our website.

Question:

The 8 AM Mass is usually about 50 minutes. The 10 AM Mass is typically about 75 minutes.

Question:

Start by speaking with Fr. Oldfield. There are many opportunities to serve the Lord Jesus in our parish, including worship ministries, hospitality, Christian education, outreach, and more.
